Treatment core smoked

With core smoking, the oak top layer is smoked through and through to the core of the wood. To achieve this, the wood is exposed for 4 to 5 weeks to a reaction with tannic acid, so that it can penetrate completely. This gives the wood a deep brown, almost black colour.

The floor

This floor in a hotel in London was core-smoked and subsequently treated with natural oil. This gives the floor a robust appearance, while remaining elegant due to the herringbone pattern. The treatment with natural oil makes the floor durable, which benefits heavy visitor traffic.
